Who We Are
The Indian River County Historical Society was established by a dedicated group of volunteers. Among their first endeavors was the purchase, moving and restoration of the old Vero Beach Railroad Station. Other projects quickly followed. The organization is volunteer driven. With a very limited budget, our volunteers make things happen! We hope you will join the Historic Society and support our efforts!

In 1999, when the City of Vero Beach wanted to tear down the Vero Beach diesel plant in order to sell the old Chicago bricks, the Historical Society worked
to have the structure placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is now American Icon Brewery.

Purchased the 1903 Vero Beach Railroad Station for $1.00 from Florida East Coast Railway and moved the old station from Commerce Avenue to its current location on 14th Avenue in downtown Vero Beach. The old station now serves as the main office for the Historical Society and houses a small museum.
